Deepika Padukone to play Mehrunissa
Sudhir Mishra’s Mehrunissa is without an actress for last 15 years. But it seems now the actress is finalized.
While Sudhir has not disclosed the actress’ name, the sources however inform that Deepika Padukone may be the leading lady in the movie. In terms of budget, the film which spans 45 years from Partition to contemporary times, it can be estimated to go up to Rs 100 crore.
The movie will be shot in India and Pakistan. Sudhir has collaborated with Nikhil Advani to write and produce the film. When quizzed to confirm the news, he refused to say anything.
“That’s a tough one. This is why I’ve kept this project on hold for so long. I need an actress who can age 45 years in front of the camera, who has a sense of history and can portray various shades of love convincingly. And, she has to be extraordinarily beautiful in a classic way,” says Sudhir.
